Seven Killings in Mohsin Hall in 1974

Last weekend I heard a small story about the seven killings in Mohsin
Hall in 1974 from a person in one of my friend's house. He said week
after the killings police arrested all the killers and put them in
custody in central jail. Capt. Monsur Ali (the then Home Minister)
sent a memo to the Prime Ministers office seeking advice. The memo
came back to Home Ministry with a two word instruction "Chere deya
houk ederke" (release them) signed by SMR.
That killing is still a mystery. They were all from AL's student front
Chatro league workers. All the victims were the muscle men of that
group. There was a court case later but nothing happened.

It is a complete lie. I am challenging his statement, "The memo
came back to Home Ministry with a two word instruction "Chere deya
houk ederke" (release them) signed by SMR."

This is the convicted killer Mr. Safiul Alam Prodhan. He is one of the main Party (one man one Party!, his wife, Ms. Rehana Prodhan Apa is the GS of his party) of BNP’s 18 party BIG alliance!

Mr. Safiul Alam Prodhan killed 7 DU students in front of TV Room of DU Mohsin Hall (Kohinoor and other 6 from Narayangonj area) in 1974.

When he killed those 7 students in AL era he was a popular General Secretary of Awami League backed BCL Central Committee (1974). Earlier he was Organizing Secretary of BCL (1973).

Though he killed those 7 students in AL era, Bangabandhu's govt did not hesitate to arrest him, being a Popular GS of BCL in 1974. Later his Govt made the trial and was sentenced for Life term Jail for murder!

But when Zia came to power, then Zia had pardoned this killer and since then he is paying back that loans (since 1978)!

Mr. Safiul Alam Prodhan killed 7 DU students (Kohinoor and other 6 from Narayangonj area) in front of TV Room of DU Mohsin Hall in 1974. I was in the protest procession led by Safiul Alam Prodhan in next day morning at DU!

When he killed those 7 students in AL era, he was a popular General Secretary (GS) of Awami League backed BCL LKS (Central Committee) in 1974. Earlier he was also Organizing Secretary (OS) of BCL in 1973. He used stay close to our house at Razabazar and was my direct leader too. He was son of Gamiruddin Prodhan (Ex Deputy Speaker of E Pakistan and was not a FF and there was 'bad report' from Govt intelligence deptt against him. So, initially AL party & Govt did not willing to give green signal to him for OS & then GS of BCL. But after pressure from 95 % BCL leader-worker including Sheikh Kamal, he was made OS (no 3 position, after president Sheikh Saheed (now JP leader) & GS M A Rashid) & then again GS (no 2 position, after president Monirul Haq Choudhury, now BNP leader) of BCL.

But when Zia came to 'real' state power after 15th august 1975, then Zia had pardoned this killer and since then he is paying back that loans (since 1978)!

Fact is that Mr. Prodhan declared 64 best of best corrupt persons of rulling party before the incident in 1974. These 64 best of best corrupt persons sent killers to finish Mr. Prodhan. At that time, Mr. Prodhan had no option but to neutralize his enemies for saving himself.
